Carnegie Deli Opens on Seventh Avenue in New York City on March 11, 1937

The Orgel family has just opened their deli for the neighborhood. The Pastrami and Corned Beef sandwiches are larger than any deli I have ever been to in the city. The sandwich prices are fair; 50 cents. The pickles are crisp and sour, the coleslaw is fresh, and the chopped liver is delicious. Carnegie Deli is featuring recipes from Eastern Europe. There are 40 seats and a small counter.

The Fordson Tractor

The Fordson Model F was the first lightweight tractor in the world. It went into mass production in 1917 and sold for $750. The original Fordson used a 20 horsepower, four-cylinder oil engine, and a three-speed transmission with speeds ranging from 2¼ to 6¼ mph. By mid-1918, more than 70 percent of the farmers were using these tractors.
