Crosley Field, which was previously known as Redland Field before being renamed in 1934, is best remembered as being the home of the Cincinnati Reds from 1912 to 1970. It is fondly remembered as a smaller stadium which allowed for a more intimate setting than most other ballparks. The stadium hosted four World Series, most notably the 1919 Fall Classic known for the “Black Sox” scandal. Crosley Field was also the site of major league baseball’s first ever night game, played in 1935. On June 24, 1970, the Reds defeated the San Francisco Giants in the Reds’ final game at Crosley Field before moving into Riverfront Stadium. Johnny Bench and Lee May hit the final two home runs in the ballpark’s history in that game.
